Not-So-Haunted House in St. Louis
St. Louis has many Halloween activities for the kids but one of the best is the Not-So-Haunted House at the Magic House. Every kid gets their own autograph book, and as they trick or treat through the house, they can collect signatures from many of their favorite storybook characters. This year's characters include favorites from Peter Pan, Harry Potter and The Wizard of Oz. There is also a Haunted Trail for the older kids.

Boo at the Zoo
Another great Halloween event for children is Boo at the Zoo Nights. The Zoo is open late, starting October 16, for kid-friendly Halloween fun. Then, there's the Zoo's "Spooky Saturday" party on October 24, where children of all ages can trick-or-treat along the Zoo's Pumpkin Trail and join in a costume parade.

Pumpkin Jamboree at Eckert's
Find perfect pumpkins at Eckert's Orchards. Their pumpkin patch has any size pumpkin you'd want, including ones that weigh up to 150 pounds. During weekends in October, Eckert's is hosting its Jumpin' Pumpkin Jamboree with wagon rides, live music, pony rides, a petting farm, funnel cakes and more. The Millstadt location also offers Haunted Hayrides through the orchard each Friday and Saturday in October.

Great Godfrey Maze
Wandering around a cornfield after dark can be a little scary, but it's pure fun at the Great Godfrey Maze. The giant maze is cut into seven acres of cornfield. This year, the maze trails are in the shape of a knight on a horse with a castle in the background. The maze is open during the day, but bring a flashlight and try the Haunted Maze at night. The Haunted Maze is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting October 9.

Balloon Glow and Forest Park Balloon Race in St Louis

The Balloon Glow offers spectators a breathtaking view of inflated balloons lighted by their burners. Get up close and walk around the balloons. Refreshments and food are available. The event will conclude with a fireworks display beginning at approximately 9 p.m. Please note that this event will no longer be drive through event. It will be held on the same field as the Saturday race.

The race, celebrating its 37th anniversary this year, is unique in that it originates from the middle of a major city, St. Louis. Attendance is free to more than 130,000 spectators who come out to watch 70 world-class balloon pilots compete in a race that is almost as exciting from the ground as it is in the air. In 2009, the Race will be held on Central Field, near the Jewel Box, in Forest Park. Spend your day in beautiful Forest Park. The Purina Children's Entertainment area is filled with pony rides, games, and other activities for kids. The Entertainment Stage features a variety of local talent. During the Photo contest the public can enter the balloon field and take pictures of their favorite balloons. Prizes will be awarded for the best photographs. The Skydiving Team performs and lands in the center of the launch field. The race begins when the Energizer Bunny Balloon takes off ahead of the pack. 70 "hound" balloons then launch in pursuit. The balloon dropping a birdseed baggie closest to the Energizer Bunny Balloon will be declared the winner.

46th Annual Moonlight Ramble in Downtown St. Louis

World’s largest nighttime bicycle ride rambles through the streets of St. Louis. The event starts at Soldiers’ Memorial in downtown St. Louis at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, August 30. Vendor Village and on-site registration opens at 9:00 p.m. The event includes pre-ride activities, a leisurely 9 or 18 mile bike ride and finishes off with an after-party back at Soldier’s Memorial Plaza. The event takes place rain or shine and helmets are required.
